Folks, at BigPotatoes, we specialise in fun social gatherings for sports teams, work colleagues, birthday parties and also social get-togethers. You name it, we cover it! How do we help make your group or party have fun? Well, we’ve got a number of ways. But one of the ways is with fun activities. We provide activities that include Arts & Crafts, Food & Drinks, Outdoor Activities and more! But today we’re here to tell you all about our amazing list of Water-based Activities. From Surfing to Dolphin Watching, these activities are great fun and are perfect for those of you that fancy taking a trip along the water. So let’s find out more about these fantastic activities.

Here are our fantastic Water-based Activities!

Surfing

Catch a few waves while surfing off the coast of Ireland. Surfing may not be one of the easiest things to master, but it’s great fun building up to it. And once you do catch your first proper wave, the feeling of achievement is immense! Surfing is great fun and it’s a great experience if you’ve never done it before. Surfing has also become one of Ireland’s top team-building activities. For this activity your group will have fantastic surf instructors who will help you and guide you on the proper technique. Then you’re free to try those new skills and try to catch your first wave.

Boat Tour – Water-based activities

Not everyone is up for getting wet so if you and your group are looking to relax and unwind while out at sea then a Boat Tour is the option for you. Set sail with your friends and learn the history of the area from a unique vantage point. You might even get to have a few drinks while on the boat. As well as getting to relax and unwind you’ll also get to see the amazing scenery and coastline of Ireland from the sea. It’s an amazing experience and one that we’re sure will leave everyone happy.

Cruise on the River

Similar to the Boat Tour, a Cruise on the River is also an opportunity for you and your group to relax and unwind. The only difference is that this time you’re on a river rather than at sea. You’ll take in some of the incredible scenery that Ireland’s towns and cities have to offer from the vantage point of the river. You’ll also get to chill out and have a relaxing time with your group. So kick the feet up and enjoy yourselves.

Dolphin Watching – Water-based activities

Fancy seeing some Dolphins? Well, now you can! Yep, Dolphin Watching is a very popular activity and it’s a chance to get out to sea and take in some fresh air. You’ll not only see dolphins but also turtles, falcons, razorbills, and maybe even basking sharks. Dolphin Watching is not to be missed out on.

Rib-Trip

Have you ever been on a Rib before? It’s one of those boats that you see Scuba Divers or the Coastguards use. They travel at high speeds and have great maneuverability. They can also take each and every bump that the sea throws at them. Take a trip out on a Rib and you’ll get the heart racing and the adrenaline pumping.

Our Outdoor Activities

At BigPotatoes, we’re well equipped to handle any and all social get togethers. Whether it’s a sports team’s outing, a work team’s night out, or a social group gathering, we’ve got it covered. One of the ways we help groups have a great time is with fun activities. We’ve got a range of activities that fall under Water-based Activities, Food & Drinks Activities, Arts & Crafts Activities, etc. But for this piece we’re going to tell you all about our fantastic Outdoor Activities. They consist of Paintballing, Karting, and a trip to an Adventure Centre. So let’s get a little more in-depth with those activities, shall we?

Here are the incredible Outdoor Activities!

Paintballing – Outdoor Activities

Paintballing is a great team-building activity so it’s highly recommended for larger groups. Your group will be split into two teams and will compete in games such as Capture the Flag and Trench Warfare. It’s a lot of fun as you run around looking to take out the other team using only your quick thinking and your paintball gun equipped with lots of paintballs. Choose your strategy beforehand though. Sometimes it’s best to stay on the move as you run and gun your way through the course. Other times it might be best to take things a bit slower and plan your tactics with your team. The choice is yours but you’ll have lots of fun either way!

Karting

Karting is another activity that brings great fun to any group. Whether you’ve got a small group or a large group, this is the perfect activity for you! Race all your mates and vie for the ultimate bragging rights as you weave in and around them on the racetrack. One of the best things about Karting is that no previous experience is needed. The karts are super easy to get used to because there are only three things to remember: the accelerator keeps you going, use the brake before turning to avoid spinning out, and use the steering wheel to take the turns well. It’s super easy to get the hang of and you’ll all be racing like you’re in Mario Kart in no time…minus the banana skins of course.

Adventure Centre

A trip to an Adventure Centre is super fun and it’s a great way to do the things you wouldn’t normally do. Adventure Centres feature things such as Zip Lining, Rock Climbing, Archery, Orienteering and also Team Tasks. You’ll be working together, supporting each other and egging each other on as you face each obstacle. For this reason alone, an Adventure Centre is a fantastic choice for a team building activity. So face your fears, bond with friends and get the heart racing with an Adventure Centre. It won’t disappoint!

Why People Wear Christmas Jumpers

Every year in the months of November and December, people bring back some of their favourite Christmas traditions. They also form new traditions that they’ll carry on from that year forwards. Christmas is one of the best times of the year and the traditions that have been around for years are part of the reason it’s such a great time. Wearing Christmas Jumpers is one of those Christmas traditions that people bring back every year. And it’s becoming a bigger thing as each year passes!

Lots of people get into the Christmas Cheer by wearing Christmas Jumpers in the run up to the busy season. Many of us like to get into the festive spirit. Some people like to put up their Christmas decorations in their homes or offices. Some people even put them up as early as the first week in November. It’s a nice way for them to express their festive spirit in the run up to the Christmas season.

But what else makes Christmas Jumpers so special?

Supporting a local charity

Many workplaces nowadays hold a charity fundraiser on a workday where everyone can come to work wearing a Christmas Jumper. Christmas Jumper Day is a day that lots of people working in offices look forward to because it adds a nice atmosphere to the office and can lift spirits. Donations are taken on the day and the proceeds go to a local charity. Christmas time is very much a time for giving, and while wearing Christmas Jumpers is only a small token, the money raised in the background keeps in line with the giving nature of this time of year.

This is a Christmas song I wouldn’t have discovered if it weren’t for the Christmas FM radio station which goes on air in the month of December. This is a song that everyone can relate to. The story is that of a young child that is buying a last minute gift for their mother or father and the child does not have enough money. This is a problem which people can empathise with. Many different people may have their own children which may experience these same problems and for this Christmas Shoes is a very relatable song.

White Christmas

Many people have grown up with the classics from the start of Christmas. White Christmas is a golden classic for many of us which will never be replaced by modern songs. White Christmas was released by the singer Bing Crosby and it’s a song that has been around since the start of many Christmas traditions.

Do They Know It’s Christmas is another big Christmas classic which may be found in many Christmas memories. This a Christmas song about the famine which had taken place in Ethiopia which happened between the years 1983-1985. They had also recorded a more recent soundtrack that marked the anniversary of the event in Ethiopia for the thirtieth anniversary. Many people enjoy the newer song better than the older one as singers such as Ed Sheeran, Olly Murs and One Direction take part in the modern version. Do They Know It’s Christmas is one of the very popular songs that’s played over the Christmas period. However, there are people that think the older version is much better than the newer version of this great traditional Christmas song.

Last Christmas

Last Christmas is a song about a broken heart but instead of it being a sad song, it gives us a sign of hope. It’s a song that reminds us about things such as Christmas trees and snow blankets around the house. Last Christmas also reminds people of their loved ones that may no longer be with them by remembering the Christmas experiences they have given us over the years.
